    MAKING AN ENQUIRY

All of the steps below will be via email or online forms. They have been designed to put you in control of the process by agreeing everything before you pay a penny for your enquiry.

Our forms are all in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) for security and ease of use. You don’t need to buy any new software, though. If you have Adobe Reader, you’ll be able to fill in the forms and print them (and of course submit them). We will then save a copy of your form and email it back to you. If you don’t have Adobe Reader it can be downloaded free of charge from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

STEP 1 - Complete the Enquiry Form

On this form you tell us all about your enquiry, and what you want to know. Then, you can either leave it to us to choose the most suitable barrister to deal with your enquiry, from our dedicated HousingLawDirect panel, or if you prefer, request a particular barrister from Arden Chambers. We cannot, of course, guarantee that we will be able to meet your request, but we will do our best to do so.

The Enquiry form can be found here. When you have completed it, simply submit it and we will send you a fixed price quotation for the advice you need.

STEP 2 – We give you a Quotation

When you submit the form, HousingLawDirect will – if we are able to deal with your enquiry – send you a quotation for providing the advice. The quotation will tell you the name of the barrister who will deal with it, the cost and the time within which your enquiry will be answered.

There are 2 different payment methods you can choose from. Each is based on a schedule of fixed rates:

Advance – this means you pay up front, which is cheapest because it is the easiest to administer. You pay in advance when you make an enquiry.

Billing – or you can choose to be invoiced after the enquiry has been dealt with. This is slightly more expensive than the other options because it involves more administration.

The quotation will give you a price for each of the 2 payment options and you can choose which one suits you best.

If you like the quotation, you can click to accept it. Or you can negotiate with us about who should deal with your enquiry, by when and for how much. Or you can back out at that stage without it costing you a penny. In any event, if you decide to proceed, everything will be agreed upfront.

STEP 3 – You give us any further information

When we send you the Quotation, we may also ask you for further information or for further documents which are necessary to provide the advice you need. We will send you a form to give us the information we need and to tell us what documents you will be sending us (and how).

STEP 4 – We answer your enquiry

Once we have all the information and documents we need, we will answer your enquiry.

You are then entitled to ask a follow-up question* which will be answered FREE by the barrister who dealt with your enquiry.

    * A follow-up question can be rejected if it is in reality a new enquiry or for certain other reasons, please check the Terms of Acceptance of Work for further details .
